In EURO 2000
1) France won the championship by beating Italy 2- 1 through a David Trezeguet golden goal. This was the second consecutive Euro final decided by a golden goal after Germany beat Czech Republic 2-1 in 1996 thanks to a 95th minute Bierhoff goal.
2) It was the second Euro title for the French.
3) France became the second country in the history to win the World Cup and European championship in a row after Germany who won it in 1974 and 1972 respectively.

IPL bats its way into business school syllabi-- TOI

Now we can hope that our young B-Scholl grad will actively participate in the class of IPL. The trivia part is that it was one of such course at Duke University from where ‘the most influential man' in present day cricket got the idea of ‘starting IPL”. So we may see few more sporting leagues, apart from the present ones - PHL, ileague and the recent Indian tennis league (ITL), resulting out from these courses...... well more is less…..

IPL winner’s trophy

Made of a total of 2,554 round and baguette diamonds weighing 68.77 carats, 4,500 yellow sapphires weighing 218.55 carats, blue sapphires weighing 986 carats and 8 rubies weighing 248.70 carats have been used. The gold weight of the statue is 691.15 grams.

Design: Yellow and blue sapphires make up the map of India signifying the passion for the DLF Indian Premier League that has captured the imagination of the entire nation, while the rubies on the map highlight the eight franchises and cities in which the matches are being played.

The border of the Indian map and the league is highlighted in diamonds, to signify the added dazzle that the league has brought to the game of cricket.
